Flaxmere Garden
128 Westenras Road, Hawarden
Timeless and ever changing
Hosts: Penny Zino
Address: 128 Westenras Road, Hawarden
59 years after it all began, Flaxmere remains inspiring with its appealing vistas and innovative design. The 3-hectare garden features distinct garden areas using different cultivars, connected by a series of ponds with their own personality. Native evergreens contrast with deciduous plantings that change with the seasons, with a focus on trees and shrubs providing interest for spring and autumn colours.
Stone walls and classically inspired timber pergolas entwined with clematis and roses in the swimming pool and rose garden, provide contrast to the gracefully arched bridge which leads your eye to Mt Tekoa. There are new experiences as in the perennial and grasses garden inspired by Piet Oudolf and the whirlpool garden created after a heavy snow fall. A new Dry Garden which will have no summer watering is now one year on and has amazed us all with its resilience and growth..
Eftpos is available.
