Newton Place is a 100m private laneway. Signposted public parking is on Douglas Road, with a short walk through a “tunnel” of oak trees to #10 at the end of the laneway. Limited disabled parking is available at the house.
Established as a new residence in 2005, my garden was originally designed by renowned landscape designer Greg Bloomer on this very private, 3000sqm section.
On entry, the gardens literally “open up” before your eyes as you proceed across expansive lawns, past three large patio areas that seamlessly connect the house with the views and the extensive rural landscape. Overall, it feels like a “retreat”, secluded and somewhat secret. The large lawn features numerous fruit trees, surrounded by deep gardens with specimen trees, rhododendrons and mature camellias. The newer gardens feature spectacular rose displays, swathes of spring bulbs and ground cover plantings, all reflecting my love of colour. Wherever you ramble, you will find interesting walks, and plenty of seating which takes advantage of the views. Plus informative signs and stories …. my garden will talk to you!
And, if you are trailing a reluctant husband behind you, Garry’s Garden has an added bonus: an immaculate double garage with two beautiful classic Mustang cars, plus heaps of fascinating memorabilia. I am always on hand and happy to talk about just about anything and everything!
And there’s more – possibly for the first time, a Festival garden will feature an open home! Through Property Brokers, Garry’s Garden will be listed for sale just prior to the Festival, with the first open homes between 1 and 3pm on Saturday and Sunday. You can register with the agent, see Garry’s home first hand, and maybe bid at the November auction!
